Hey Guys,

Hope you had a fab weekend. How AMAZING is this weather!!  Just dropping by the blog to show you my new FAV denim slipper shoes and how I styled them. If you follow me on instagram you would have seen my silver slipper shoes I got from OFFICE recently as well. I absolutely love this style of shoe as its so stylish and insanely comfortable as you can imagine and would suit any age group.  So many high end brands are bringing out the slipper style shoe and I personally can’t get enough of them.

I picked up this cute lil dress in Topshop sale, I love mixing denim with stripes so wore my new slipper shoes with my stripe dress and tied a light denim shirt round my waist to tie in with the shoes. I kept the colour palette light so wore my white Celine bag and a tan hat to create the perfect Summer’s daytime look.

denim bow slipper shoes All Saints (they also come in washed black) if you are looking to pay less for  a similar style then definitely do check out the OFFICE ones.

Embroidered Flower Patch Jeans. (Quiz Collab)

Processed with VSCO with f2 preset

Hey Lovelies

Happy Saturday!! Hope you all have a fab weekend! Im excited to be showing you all my recent collaboration with QUIZ. I saw these insane flower patch embroidered jeans and it was love at first sight. I love customising my own clothes and always pick up  iron on badges to add to my denim jackets and jeans so when I saw these I had to get them. (For those who may be wondering I buy my iron on badges from the likes of ebay and I always get one when I go abroad of where Ive been from tourist shops etc- could I possibly sound any geekier right now??) I love the ‘cut effect’ edging around the bottom of the jeans.

I got this jacket from TOPSHOP vintage rail in Edinburgh, if you haven’t been GO! Theres also a couple of vintage rails in TOPSHOP, Argyle St. I tried to rock the 70s theme by matching them with a fringed suede jacket and timeless Prada pumps I picked up in the Winter sales. The grey crop top is minimal to keep all focus on the beautiful embroidery of the jeans. I also feel the jeans are a statement in themselves so they don’t need an overly patterned top.

Could also be worn with; be bold and wear with a denim jacket for some double denim vibes OR keep it cool in a leather jacket and simple Tee or bodysuit.

The bandana is from Primark and cost a couple of pounds; I just folded it up and tied around my neck as a cute accessory.

You can’t see me… (camo styles and strappy sandals)

rsz_11rsz_1rsz_camo_3

Hey Guys

Hope you all had a fab weekend! Im finally getting round to updating my blog and filling you lovelies in on my recent fav styles. I have another style to blog in a couple of days so stay tuned. So you probably already know by now thanks to my one million photos on social media- but for those who don’t know- I was in Paphos last week (wedding venue scouting- exciting!) and it seemed I had brought the sun home with me when I got back  (you can thank me later) which was great because it meant I got to make use out of my Summer wardrobe for a few extra days.

I am obsessing over all of the camouflage clothing just now…truthfully I haven’t seen as much in the high street shops as of late but theres LOADS of awesome camo pieces online just now on ASOSUrban OutfittersMissguided and Lasula. (click on links to be directed to shop camo styles)

I love wearing denim and camouflage styles together so threw on most possibly my best investment ever – Levis denim shorts…I swear these shorts see me through every Summer and every Winter with tights and have done for the past 3 years. Urban Outfitters is usually a guaranteed place to pick up a pair (they don’t have them on the website but usually always have a rail instore- its best to try them on because I find the sizes and cut of the shorts can be really inaccurate sometimes), if not try vintage stores or eBay/depop.

The camo jacket is actually a mans jacket from ASOS I stole from Pauls wardrobe (sorry Paul) but being a tall girl I sometimes prefer the oversized style and the arms are usually a better length for me. There is millions of cute camo jackets online just no but these are my absolute favourite camo jackets I found when searching for similar styles…

This camo Urban Outfitters cropped camo jacket is the cutest £45

Camo ASOS jacket (mens if you like oversized like me) £45

The shoes are from ZARA,  I got them in last years Summer sale and have been praying for sunny day to wear them. I think they are an awesome summer sandal!! As they are a statement shoe in itself I personally think they would look best with denim shorts, a print tee and leather jacket or with a loose fit t-shirt dress and denim jacket tied around the waist. They are a great shoe for festivals/Ibiza… They are no longer available to buy in Zara but I found a couple similar styles;

ASOS  knee high buckle sandals £35

Public Desire not so chunky a strap but still a fab shoe for £30 (and they come in gold and tan)

(the white top is a Primark crop top, bag is Baleciaga, glasses from Ray-Ban)

Cool Kids Don’t Sleep

rsz_img_2804

Hey Lovelies!!

Hope you had a great weekend! I spent mine at Blackpool Pleasure Beach shamelessly screaming my heart out on all the rides! Too much fun!

So a lot of you have asked me where I got my jacket from I put up on my instagram (@emilyshak) a couple of weeks ago and I finally saw it up on Topshop website! I LOVE it! I love slogan tees so when I saw this jacket I had to buy it.

Ok so obviously I braved the cold and got the legs out but I casually layered the top half to stay warm by wearing a grey hoodie under my *ahem* Paul’s oversized checked shirt and threw the jacket on top. I brightened up this look with a green bag and a good old pair of Timberland boots. I love these boots- I know they are an ideal Winter boot but because of the light tan colour they look so cool with denim shorts in the Summer… I find myself wearing them through all the seasons. (A bit like my never ending love for Doc Martens and summer dresses).

**If you don’t want to go bare leg- This look would suit a pair of ripped light denim skinny jeans or fishnet tights.**

My shirt is menswear from River Island- checked shirts aren’t hard to find and I always buy mine from the mens section in an L or XL so that it is long enough as a dress….I did however put white denim shorts on underneath just to be safe 😉 you never know when a gust of wind is gonna appear out of nowhere…

Jacket £52 TOPSHOP

shirt- RI ( keep your eyes open in vintage stores- they always have amazing checked shirts with old school brands such as Levis, Lee, Wrangler, Tommy Hilfiger)

boots- OFFICE (Timberland boots cost about £160 which is pretty steep for a boot but several websites do cheaper alternatives such as IKRUSH)

Bag- Alexander Wang – Harrods

Hoody- H&M

Fila’n Good In Levis!

Emily Shak for TypicalShak. Photo by Stephen Hughes.

Hey hey!!

How are we all? Im just getting round to blogging my outfit from last Thursday that I wore to the Hunted vintage S/S16 launch party. It was a fab night and with vintage clothing hanging on rales doted around the room to shop from made it that much better.  I managed to buy myself a vintage Ralph Lauren mens shirt (aka a dress for Shak), Fred Perry polo shirt and amazing purple stretch wide leg trousers.

IMG_8348

I’ve said it once and I’ll say it again- adding in a little bit of vintage to your outfit always makes it that bit more unique and original.

Speaking of vintage, I am loving all of the retro sports clothes in Urban Outfitters just now. They take me back to the 90s when I thought I was the cool kid in town in my Le Coq Sportif neon orange and blue “poppers down the leg’ trackie. Who else remembers those?

So I picked this sick little Fila tee up in Urban Outfitters last week and styled it like this….

I got this denim skirt last year from the LEVI shop. I love the original big LEVI logo so this skirt caught my eye. I spend most of my Summers in LEVI denim shorts so the skirt was a nice change and although it was a longer length than i would usually go for, the slit up the front made it that little bit sexier.

I threw on my “go to heels”, silver strappy sandals. I think it adds a touch of glam and transforms this outfit from being a casual daytime look (that could be worn with trainers, or fishnet tights and converse) to a really funky and retro inspired evening look. I opted for my LV bumbag to add to that 90s feel I’m tryna rock.

Tshirt- £25 Urban Outfitters

OFFICE heels- These are unfortunately sold out but found an almost identical pair on Public Desire for £25

Skirt- Again sold out but shop similar here. (I often find second hand LEVI clothing on ebay and in vintage shops and customise it myself by cutting it or adding rips to my jeans)

My rose gold watch is from Abott Lyon and costs £135…with my exclusive discount code ‘EMILYSHAK30’ you get 30% off any watch (Therefore this watch would cost approx £94.50 with my discount) – please note- discount code expires end of April.

“Co-ords” stole my heart.

rsz_img_2714

Hey guys!!

I need to show you all this amazing co-ord I got a couple of weeks ago. Being honest, I’ve never been big on the whole skirt/blazer co-rd sets before, probably because I’m not a “matchy match” kinda gal, but when I saw this on the rail in H&M there was something I just loved about it. It wasn’t just the beautiful embroidery, fringing at the base of the skirt or colours that caught my eye, but I loved the shape of the 3/4 sleeved oversized jacket.

IMG_2718

IMG_2710

IMG_2670IMG_2722

I matched this with a mustard ribbed soft feel top from Primark. (Not 100% on price but was approx £6). Such a handy little top and it comes in different colours. In true typical shak style I dressed it right down with a pair of Adidas superstars. There is no better investment than a pair of metallic trainers be it silver or gold because there is literally nothing they don’t go with.  I never have mine off!

This co-ord is literally two statement pieces in themselves and do not have to be worn together of course.  I will definitely be wearing this jacket soon with a pair of ripped light coloured denims, ankle boots (possibly my new suede MANGO boots I featured in a previous post ‘Spring in my Step’  and a white tshirt (in a topknot-of course!). Again, the skirt would look super cute with a cami top and denim jacket thrown on with strappy heels dressed up for dinner.

Asymmetric cuts and a whole lot more…

rsz_img_2660

Hey hey hey!!

How are we all? Sorry for the delayed blog post I have had one of those weeks- busy busy! Had a lovely morning today checking out all of the beautiful new S/S styles at the Corinthian, Glasgow, for the Debenhams fashion press show followed by a fashion show I was modelling in this evening at The Thistles, Stirling.

Just got in the door and currently lying in bed… electric blanket on full force…0n my second cup of tea… with a cream egg in hand about to be demolished (potentially in a oner)… thinking this is the life…

So earlier in the week I took advantage of the ridiculously nice weather we had for A day (weather forecast you are a down right liar- sunshine all week my……) I wore a little pastel scuba material asymmetric skirt, with a simple 3/4 sleeve ribbed white polo neck, ankle boots and my favourite suede fringed jacket.

I love pastel colours mixed with grey -it makes the prettiest colour palette- and I think for those people that don’t like to wear colour in general, pastels always add a little subtle Spring feel to your outfit without feeling like you’ve stepped out your comfort zone.

IMG_2660 IMG_2654

IMG_2664IMG_2642IMG_2644

I got this beauty of a jacket from The Kooples Summer sale last year and the skirt was from PLT sale a couple of months ago. Fringes are one of these styles that are forever going in and out of fashion and to me investing in a good fringed jacket is a timeless piece to add to your wardrobe. I love an asymmetric cut whether it be on skirts and tops.  The skirt and jacket was a statement in itself so kept it simplistic with a ribbed tight fit white polo neck and grey faux suede ankle boots from QUIZ- super comfy and just a nice heel height for walking around in).  Again, the clutch is neutral and is a slouch leather from American Apparel.

Unfortunately The Kooples jacket is no longer available but I have found a few suede fringed jacket alternatives that I love:

River island brown fringed jacket £65

ASOS fringed brown jacket £150

3 different colours of faux suede jacket from PLT £35

…as is the asymmetric skirt. However MISSGUIDED have loads of amazing similar style skirts for really affordable prices. (click HERE to be directed to skirts)

Ankle boots  QUIZ £29.99

Polo neck QUIZ £12.99

Bag American Apparel ( i couldn’t find any on the website similar, however usually they are ALWAYS in store if you check out your nearest American Apparel and cost under £50)

Have an amazing weekend!!

Dungaree Dreamin’

Emily Shakaji for Typical Shak. Photo By Stephen Hughes

Hey Guys!

Hope you had a fab weekend!! I spent my weekend doing fashion shows at INTU Braehead shopping centre with my mum for a ‘Mothers Day’ style showcase by Julie Hannah. Lets just say Im starting to see who I got my posing gene from haha!

Recently I was lucky enough to do a collab with Quiz Clothing and received some fabulous new pieces. One of which I have to mention are these amazing dungarees.  At £29.99 they are a steal and key piece to add to your wardrobe.

I have always struggled to find a good pair of dungarees that are;

a) long enough in length and b) skinny fits that are actually tight fitted and remain tight

I bought a pair before Xmas from another high street store and having worn them for a day I started to feel like they were misshaped and got baggy around the knees and bum area.  I also love the button detail and ripped knees!! I wore them with my Adidas rose gold toe trainers, a tight fit nude bodysuit and fluffy/faux feather like feel jacket.

The Fluffy Dream Jacket

Its not quite as heavy as fur and the colours are so pretty it makes an ideal jacket for a crisp but dry, sunny Spring day. I got it from the ‘last chance to buy’ rail in TOPSHOP on sale last month so unfortunately it is most likely no longer available. However, I always hate when you see something on somebody and can’t find it so I have done a little bit of research for you

…so the closest jackets I could find to what i’d imagine would be the most similar in texture and style are faux ostrich feather jackets…there is several online independent boutiques selling them on depop. Or if you simply type in “faux ostrich feather jackets’ into google or your depop search engine you’ll see them there and cost around £75. I have never used this website before but found some on mimi and bow’s website.

Comfortable Spring Street Style & VVA handbags!

rsz_img_2607

Hey Guys!

Almost the weekend! YAY! So- March is finally here. I know it still feels like Winter but there is no denying these blue skies we’ve been seeing recently aren’t getting us all Summer dreaming about light nights, summer clothing, bbqs, and beer gardens. (Lets be honest beer gardens are a definite top 5 best things to do in the Scottish sunshine).

I always find Spring a more challenging season to dress for, you want to lock your heavy dark Winter knits and coats far far away until next Winter yet it still feels cold enough to be wearing them. So recently, I have found a happy medium and been buying some pieces that are slightly lighter in weight and have been opting for more pastel tones that will look less Wintery yet still keep me warm.

I picked up these fabulous grey stripe trousers from TOPSHOP last week. For the record they are meant to be that length…in fact they are actually named “awkward stripe trousers” on the site which I found quite amusing as I stood in the shop for about ten mins saying to Paul “these are such an awkward length” holding them against me.  They are however super comfy and would look good with trainers or a heel. I love the relaxed loose every day street style vibe they have.

My cute little faux suede jacket is from H&M and literally can be thrown over any ensemble. It has a lovely soft touch and I love the two oversized pockets at the front.

Shoes are TOPSHOP sale and cost me £10. BARGAIN! And the lace bodysuit was just an oldie I found in my lingerie drawer. My mum definitely thought I was losing my head going out in underwear as outerwear but I thought the lace trim with the baggy trousers and bomber jacket added a perfect feminine delicate touch.

Save the best for last- my new IT bag! VVA sent me this beautiful bag last week which cheered me right up from my post Dubai/London holiday blues.  I chose these colours as I love the soft tones and grey and pink is such a perfect combination. This Dahlia bag is particularly different to any other bag I own as the pink fur pouch at the front can be detached and used as a clutch bag. If you go on their website  you’ll notice you can literally design  your personal dream bag from everything from the colour of the bag to the straps, tassels and design of the ivy (clutch).  This bag has the coolest concept and it is as though you are getting two bags for the price of one.  I love the idea that you can give your day to day bag a makeover simply by buying a new ivy (clutch) as opposed to going out and spending a fortune on a brand new bag. In addition to this, the lining of the bag itself it made from a beautiful pink leather.

CLICK here to check out their website!!

Hope you have a fantastic weekend!! I can’t wait to show you my new skinny fit dungarees and faux fur jacket in my next blog!!

Spring In My Step; Glasgow Style Mile

rsz_img_2319

Hey Guys!

Hope you had a fab weekend!! I have got to say I am absolutely loving the sunshine we have been seeing the past week… Im going to take credit here because apparently the week I was in Dubai it was storms and rain and I came home to sunshine. (just saying) What is the best thing about the finer weather for someone like me??  It opens up a new dimension for outfit possibilities of lighter weight clothing and brighter colours as the Spring/Summer season rapidly approaches.

Last week was payday for me and I thought where else better to go on a shopping splurge other than Glasgow’s very own Style Mile itself; with over 200 hundred shops to choose from including designer boutiques, House OF Fraser, several designer shops as well as high street stores and fantastic shopping malls such as Buchanan Galleries, St Enoch Centre and Princess Mall to name a few.  Not forgetting to mention the numerous chic bars and cafes that make the perfect pit stops for a coffee/lunch break. In addition to this most of the shops are open until 7pm mon-fri (thurs 8pm) making it super convenient for those who perhaps work until 5/6pm and want to catch the shops before heading home or out for the evening.

If you are new to Glasgow or thinking about visiting there truly is so many amazing things to do, places to eat, shopping, sight seeing, the theatre, museums and several other excursions that can guarantee you a fun filled day out. Be sure to check out the People Make Glasgow website for further information.

I absolutely love shorts especially dressed down during the day. With the weather being a bit brighter I thought it was time to get the legs out that have been hiding under leggings and jeans the entire Winter. I teamed this with a cut out shoulder knit and Mac coat for a warm yet stylish day time look. The boots are my favourite find and cost £39.99. I love the wooden block heel. Im not one of these girls that can shop in heels (how do you do it??) I’m definitely a trainer kinda gal but these boots were so comfortable and the colour is a nice change from the standard black ankle boot.

My entire outfit (minus bag/scarf/glasses)  is this season and was purchased from House Of Fraser, Buchanan Street

Mac- Miss Selfridge (£65 but has a £20 off discount)
