Hope you are all having a great week! Fear not- January is almost over and somehow I feel I am not the only one counting the days until payday!! I commenced my week with a lovely little trip to Stirling.
When someone says the word ‘Stirling’, you may think of castles, William Wallace, Battle of Bannockburn, historical events, cobbled streets and countryside. However, bang in the heart of the city centre lies a fantastic indoor shopping centre named ‘The Thistles’. With over 80 high street stores, you can literally ‘shop till you drop’. Or at least until you source the nearest coffee shop, where you can refresh and then pick up where you left off.
One of the key trends this season without doubt has to be stripes. It is one of the most popular prints fronting the high street for the Spring/Summer wardrobe. I love everything from simple stripe shirts and jeans, to multi-coloured striped dresses with bold vibrant coloured jackets.
Browsing through the stores in The Thistles shopping centre I was able to pull some of my favourite Spring/Summer inspired looks.
Topshop; jumper £29, pinafore £39, satchel £32 (glasses Miu Miu & Topshop ankle boots- my own)
This has got to be one of my favourite looks, a relaxed yet super cute cord pinafore with a cosey stripe knit. The mustard satchel bag ties in perfect with the mustard stripe in the jumper. This outfit would also look great with a pair of converse and tights for the days your little pins cant face the cold.
Primark; stripe shirt dress £13, faux suede gillet £15, sunglasses £1, necklace £6, belt £1, hat £8
Okay so believe it or not but I got this entire look (minus the boots) for £44!!! I love it! This striking ensemble makes the perfect ‘date night’ or even for the ‘ladies who lunch’ attire.
Pleated maxi skirt from At the Studio £22, TOPSHOP pumps £7 (sale), Dorothy Perkins shirt £24, jumper £32, clucth £8, scarf £12, Primark sunglasses £1
Strolling through the picturesque streets of Stirling I felt warm, chic and elegant in this look I pulled from ‘Dorothy Perkins’ and ‘At The Studio’. ‘At the Studio’ is a very stylish shop suitable for all ages, offering clothes from popular brands such as Vera Moda, Villa, Jacqueline De Yong and beautiful accessories by Pieces.
Miss Selfridge Khaki Belted Mac (on offer) £52, At The Studio Vera Moda jeans £32, River Island scarf £18, TOPSHOP heels (sale £20), Primark belt £1
This versatile mac is a must have in your wardrobe!! I love everything about it from its neutral tone to its beautiful cut. It is a perfect coat for a stylish office wear look or thrown on over an LBD and killer heels for a nightime party look. I threw a stripy scarf over one shoulder and belted it to create some shape at the waist and hold the scarf in perfect place.
Star by Julien Macdonald @ Debenhams £45
Wow to the colour and cut of this blouse. I absolutely love shirts with a leg of mutton sleeve. With beautiful pleating and button cuffs this shirt is a fashion statement in itself.
RIVER ISLAND; light weight trench coat £80, jeans £42, jumper £35, bag £22, sunglasses £18, heels (OFFICE)
These bright blue jeans make the perfect combination to throw out the dusky pinks, greys and mustard tones in this eye catching look. How adorable is the fringing on the sleeves and jumper trim?! River Island have some seriously beaut accessories in just now that are really affordable statement pieces to add some extra “glam” to even the most simplistic outfits.
Hope you all have a fab week and make sure you pop into the The Thistles shopping centre for your next dose of retail therapy.
Also, if you have any special occasions coming up; weddings, balls etc or if your lucky enough to have a partner whisking you off somewhere special on Valentines Day then you have got to check out the new Jenny Packham range in Debenhams. The detail and embroidery is simply dreamy.
Save the date; Thursday 17th march ‘Fashion in the Spotlight’ catwalk show @ The Thistle presented by editor of I-on magazine Susie Cormack Bruce. Times tbc.
